Cooperative Education: Tayler Otten
Name: Tayler Otten
Hometown: Sheboygan Falls, Wis.
Major: English and creative writing.
Year in school: Senior.
Co-Op job: Humanities & fine arts content creator for Lakeland.
I participate in the Co-Op program because: I can work toward paying for my tuition while also earning credits toward my degree. As a working student, having the ability to have my employment help me both financially and educationally is beyond helpful. I don't know what I would do without the Co-Op program.
Campus involvement: Great Lakes Writers Festival.
Post-graduation dream job: Copy editor.
Favorite LU faculty/staff member: Associate Professor of Writing Jodie Mortag.
Lakeland is good fit for me because: I can learn in a small, community-like setting in which I am a person, not a number. Lakeland's intimate campus and class sizes allow me to build close connections with both my classmates and my professors, building my network and friendships.
51ĀŅĀ× is the only Midwestern school that offers Cooperative Education across all majors by allowing participating students to gain on-the-job knowledge and academic credit for their work. LU students can earn up to 25% of the degree through work and post-work reflection.
Each year, we welcome more students who are interested in the benefits of Co-Op and the ability to connect with a lengthy list of corporate and organizational partners who support the program and our studentās learning.
