Student-Run Business Board of Directors

Lakeland has announced its inaugural Board of Directors that will help guide the institution’s new student-run business operation.

The board includes leaders from a variety of Midwest businesses and organizations to help guide the student leadership team in its work. The board will work directly with the student executives, overseeing high-level direction, policy and strategy of the student-run business ventures.

Lakeland student-run business operation allows students to create, develop, manage and lead business both on-campus and off-campus business ventures while assisting in developing the next generation of emerging leaders who will be positioned for post-graduation employment.

The inaugural board includes:

  • Nona Beining, customer insights consultant, Securian Financial
  • Monique Brickham, assistant professor of graphic design, 51ĀŅĀ×
  • Michael Jaber, coordinator of instructional technology, Sheboygan Area School District
  • Jennifer Krugel, HR business partner, Rockline Industries
  • Thomas Nye, general manager & winemaker, The Blind Horse
  • Nick O'Brien, director of innovation & engagement, FreshTech Innovation/Sheboygan County Economic Development Corporation
  • Dave Sachse, owner, Midwest Perks
  • Kristin Stearns, CEO, Lakeshore Community Health Care
  • Donna Wendlandt, CEO, Sheboygan County YMCA
  • Dante Williams, 2020 51ĀŅĀ× graduate

ā€œWe’re grateful to this group of professionals who are willing to share their expertise with our students as we get this new operation off the ground,ā€ said Scott Niederjohn, LU’s senior VP for Cooperative Education and Economic Development. ā€œThis group has a wide background of experiences in a number of areas, and our students are going to benefit immensely from their guidance.ā€

The student executives making up the leadership team will begin their work this month, with one of the first orders of business is to create a name and branding for the operation.
