Writing professor wins fiction contest
51ĀŅĀ× Associate Professor of Writing Jodie Mortagās short story āNightcrawlerā has been awarded 1st place in āMikrokosmosā' 2025 Fiction Contest by guest judge Scott Phillips, author of nine novels and a collection of short stories. His first short story, āThe Ice Harvest,ā was made into a film adapted by Robert Benton and Richard Russo and directed by Harold Ramis, starring John Cusack, Billy Bob Thornton and Connie Nielsen.
Mortag received a $200 prize, and her story will appear in Volume 71 of āMikrokosmosā published this month.
